CEED Mission
The Center for Economic and Environmental Development (CEED) draws upon the scientific, legal and business resources of the university to promote the economic development of marine industries that are compatible with a healthy environment. CEED encourages innovative environmental stewardship by involving students, faculty and the local community in strategic educational, management and entrepreneurial initiatives that yield a sustainable environment.
  • Specific emphasis on environmental monitoring, marine science and technology, commercial and recreational fishing, aquaculture, tourism, boat building and marina development and expansion.
  • Promoting, stimulating and conducting timely and significant research that bears directly on limitations to the growth of the regionís marine economy.
  • Providing structural and administrative support to RWU faculty and students engaged in applied research on specific topics relating to the marine economy.
  • Facilitating the delivery of innovative degree programs and professional certificates in aquaculture, marine biology, environmental science and related fields of study.
